Elkhart Extension Homemakers Award Deb Pepple

Deb Pepple of Elkhart was named Homemaker of the Year at the annual meeting of the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers.
Pepple is a former president of the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers Assn. and has served as director of Home and Family Arts during the county fair. She was a 4-H leader for 26 years and taught elementary school for Baugo Community Schools for 40 years. Earlier this summer, she was selected as the senior queen of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.
"Forever young" was the theme of the annual Extension Homemaker Achievement Night, which took place last Tuesday evening in Goshen.
Newly elected county officers for the 2026-27 club year were introduced. They are: president, Sherry Weaver; vice president, Stephanie Szabo; secretary, Nikki Stump; treasurer, Susan Rowe; assistant treasurer, Jill Cohen; and advisor, Lisa Stephens.
Outstanding Clubs of the Year were recognized at the Gold, Silver and Bronze Club levels. The traveling gavel was presented to the Club of the Year, Busy Homemakers. Clubs earning the Gold Award were: Busy Homemakers, Creative Circle, Creative Homemakers, Four Seasons, Friends & Neighbors, Hex Rural and Homemakers of Today.
Clinton Classics club and York Homemakers club earned the Silver Award. There were no Bronze level clubs this year.
County committee chairpersons, new members and prestigious members were recognized. A special memorial service was conducted for deceased members. The Clinton Classics club celebrated its 75th years as a club.
The chairpersons for the Achievement Night event were Lisa Honey and Kathy Stoltzfus. Committee members were Cheryl Gall, Nancy Gleim, JoAnne Graber, Kathy Graber, Cheryl Hoffman, Karen Honey and Cathy Van Huystee.
