Michigan 4-H Alumni and Friends Group Launches

Published: Friday, July 24, 2026

The following is from Laurie Rivetto of Michigan State University Extension.

Michigan State University Extension is excited to officially launch Michigan 4‑H Alumni and Friends, a new statewide network where individuals can stay connected, give back and continue supporting the next generation of 4-H'ers. Through Michigan 4‑H Alumni and Friends, past experiences and present support come together to create new opportunities for youth across our state.

This group is intentionally inclusive. Participants don't need to have worn a 4‑H clover as a youth to belong. If 4‑H has been part of your life—or if you simply care about helping young people thrive—you're welcome here. However, Michigan 4-H Alumni and Friends do need to be at least 18 years-old.

Whether you were a 4‑H member as a youth, or are a volunteer, parent, supporter or someone who believes in positive youth development, this group is for you.

By joining Michigan 4‑H Alumni and Friends, you can: Stay connected to the impact of 4‑H across Michigan; support youth through mentorship, advocacy or sharing your story; learn about opportunities to support 4-H youth and programs that are proven to make a difference; give back to a program that means something to you through your time, talent or resources; receive updates about Michigan 4-H programming, news and events through our quarterly alumni newsletter, 4-H Grown; be invited to special Michigan 4-H activities. This includes "4-H Days" at sporting events, alumni events across the state, the launch of the Michigan 4-H license plate and more!

Engagement looks different for everyone. Some may want to volunteer or mentor, others may enjoy attending events or staying informed. Every level of involvement matters.

Getting started is easy: Join the Michigan 4‑H Alumni and Friends network by completing the online registration, take the follow-up 4-H involvement survey (optional), stay connected through updates and opportunities right to your inbox, and choose how you'd like to engage on your own terms!
