LaPorte County 4-H'ers Awarded Top Scholarships

Several LaPorte County 4-H members were recognized on June 15 at the 10-year and senior member awards program at the fairgrounds in LaPorte.

The LaPorte County Agricultural Assn. presented several high school seniors the $1,500 Robert M. Morse Memorial 4-H Scholarship and Ag Assn. Vocational Scholarship.

Robert M. Morris Scholarship recipients include: Michael Morrison, son of Curt and Amy Morrison of Union Mills; and Ava Fasshauer, daughter of Paul and Kate Fasshauer of Union Mills.

Morrison is a 10-year 4-H member of Clinton Livewires 4-H Club. He plans to attend Valparaiso University and study digital media arts/film directing.

Fasshauer is a 10-year 4-H member of the Clinton Livewires 4-H Club. She plans to attend Kansas State University studying interior architecture.

Wesley Schmidt, son of Edward Schmidt and Jessica Schmidt, received the Ag Assn. Vocational Scholarship. Schmidt is a 10-year member of the LaPorte County 4-H Program.

The 2026 Richard "Dick" Reel Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship given by the LaPorte County 4-H Council. It was presented to Kinley MacLeod, daughter of Jason and Julie MacLeod. She is a 10-year 4-H member of the Lincoln Hotshots 4-H Club and will be attending Purdue University in the fall to study animal and veterinary science.

The 2026 Louis M. Daube Memorial Scholarship encourages the motto to "Do What's RightDo It Well!"

This $1,000 scholarship was also presented at the 4-H 10-Year & Senior Recognition Program. Receiving the honor was Edie Chlupacek, daughter of David and Meredith Chlupacek of Walkerton.

The 2026 Dixie Paul Memorial Scholarship is a $500 Scholarship given by the Dixie Paul Family. Brooke Bos, daughter of Steve and Amber Bos of Wanatah, was selected as this year's recipient. She is a 10-year 4-H member of the Clinton Livewires 4-H Club.

Bos also received the $2,000 Ed Gemberling Memorial Scholarship given by the Gemberling Family.

Through the Indiana 4-H Foundation with the LaPorte County Booster and Alumni Assn. 4-H senior scholarships totaling $1,000 each were presented to: Paige Bannwart, Lincoln Hotshots 4-H Club; Alexis Jonas, Clinton Livewires 4-H Club; Kai Keehn, LaPorte City Firestars 4-H Club; Katherine Minich, Clinton Livewires 4-H Club; and Michael Morrison, Clinton Livewires 4-H Club.

Given by the LaPorte County 4-H Booster & Alumni Assn., $1,000 each was awarded to eight 4-H alumni. These include: Lyla Bannwart, Isabella Gosciniak, Sydney Hill, Brady Kessler, Brayden Mannia, Deia Mark, Zoie Pressel and Charlie Tonagel.
