Allen Co. 4-H'ers Rake in $115,000

The Allen County Fair Livestock Auction concluded on June 29 with a sale total of $115,714.37, which was down from last year's total of $129,223. This year's sale included large animals, small animals, flowers, and milk from the champion dairy cow.
There was one lot for beef that totaled $1,300. Dairy beef feeders had seven lots with a total of $4,421. Dairy beef steer had three lots that totaled $12,440. There was one lot for dairy milk that sold for $980. The three lots of flowers sold for a total of $1,025. Goats had a total of $13,252 with 18 lots, with two of those lots going to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry. There were 17 lots of poultry that collectively sold for $10,485. Rabbits had 11 lots that totaled $5,805. Sheep had five lots that brought $4,540 and swine had 23 lots, four of which went to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry, which totaled $30,530.
The auction started with rabbits, and the grand champion single fryer sold for $375 to a group of buyers (see list at end of story), and was exhibited by Celine Baumle of New Haven. The reserve champion roaster was exhibited by Leo Smith, from Fort Wayne, and sold for $725. Next to be sold was dairy milk for $980, and came from the grand champion cow exhibited by Landen King, of Fort Wayne The reserve grand champion steer sold for $1,300 ($1.08 a pound) and was exhibited by Ashleigh Hadley of Fort Wayne.
The grand champion turkey and reserve grand champion commercial poultry sold for $1,425 (see list at end of story) and was exhibited by Tyler Martin, of Fort Wayne. The grand champion commercial poultry was exhibited by Emerson Spieth of Fort Wayne and sold for $1,205 (see list at end of story). Lastly, the grand champion barrow was exhibited by Landry Carpenter, from Fort Wayne and sold for $680 (see list at end of story).
A new record was set as Jessa DeBolt, from Churubusco, sold her dairy beef steer for $6,600 ($4.03 a pound). The record was previously held by Jorga DeBolt who set the record in 2024 at $6,500.
This year's Allen County 4-H Fair Showman of Showman was Holly Howard, of Fort Wayne. She has been the Showman of Showman winner for four years in a row and is a 10 year 4-H member. She exhibited swine and goats at this year's fair and is a top livestock judging recruit in the nation.
