Farm Bureau to Host an 'Evening on the Farm'

Published: Friday, July 10, 2026

The Lake County Farm Bureau will welcome elected officials, school representatives and their families from throughout Indiana to its annual Evening on the Farm on July 24 from 4-8 p.m. at Kleine Dairy Farm, 11315 Parrish Ave. in Cedar Lake. A rain date has been scheduled for July 25.

Designed to foster relationships between local agriculture and policymakers, Evening on the Farm provides a unique opportunity for elected leaders to step away from the meeting room and experience firsthand how food is grown, harvested, processed and transported throughout Northwest Indiana.

Guests will enjoy a family-friendly harvest festival atmosphere featuring farm tour, tractor rides, educational demonstrations, opportunities to meet local farmers and food provided by the Lake County Farm Bureau.

"As communities continue to grow and residential development expands, it becomes increasingly important for elected officials to understand the realities of modern farming and food production," said LCFB representatives. "The decisions made at the local, county and state levels can have a significant impact on how farmers operate, from land use and transportation to water access and food production. This event creates an opportunity for meaningful conversations and stronger partnerships."

The event will highlight the critical role farmers play in feeding local communities and supporting the regional economy.

Lake County Farm Bureau leaders hope the event will encourage ongoing dialogue between policymakers and the agricultural community, helping ensure that future decisions are informed by those who grow, harvest and transport the food that reaches consumers every day.

Elected officials are encouraged to bring their spouses, children and grandchildren for an evening of education, connection and fun on the farm.
