Hannah Early's 4-H career culminated at the Miami County 4-H Fair last week, after winning the grand champion titles in the swine show. While the Macy youth did not sell her grand champion gilt, she earned $3,500 from buyers for her grand champion barrow.

The 10-year 4-H'er sold her 273-pound crossbred barrow to Driscoll Show Pigs and Weesaw Creek Farm for $12.82 per pound.

In all, six youths sold their grand champion animals last Saturday in Peru. In addition to Early's barrow, Colt Myers of Kokomo earned $1,800 ($3.52 per pound) for his 510-pound dairy feeder calf. Moss Fertilizer was among the buyers.

Delilah Hollarman of Peru showed the grand champion single fryer and auctioned it off to buyers Greg and Kelli Hunt. The next grand champion in the auction ring was the turkey, shown by Dave Richardson of Denver. He sold it to Musselman Brothers Inc.

Alyssa Peterson of Kokomo entered her grand champion meat-type wether in the auction and went home $425 richer. Vince and Amie Osborne purchased the Boer goat. Jesse Weaver of Roann sold a gallon of milk from his supreme champion cow to Louis Dreyfus, earning $325.

Reserve champions not selling included Layne Miller's beef steer, Madison Munsell's dairy wether, Rylan Schipper's cow's milk and Alden Hopper's barrow.

Total auction results, including a complete list of buyers and final totals for all grand and reserve champions, were not available at press time.
