Starke County residents celebrated the addition of a new food pavilion at the fairgrounds on Monday with a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m. The pavilion, which seats approximately 150 people, was donated by the Starke County Farm Bureau Inc.
"It's been a long tradition to support 4-H and the fair," said Lee Nagai, Starke County Farm Bureau president.
Other donors contributed tables for the pavilion, including: Tractor Supply Co., Larry and Vicki Jernas, Nathan and Becca Jernas, Dalton and Lauren Weeinkauff, and in memory of John and Marge Jernas.
INFB Vice President and Indiana Representative (R-District 16) Kendell Culp also attended the ribbon cutting. He noted the strong community bond displayed by the donation and said it's "neat to see" when members are coming together and taking care of each other and the community.
The pavilion was erected beside the 4-H Dairy Bar on the southeast side of the fairgrounds.
