Baked Apple Fries

2 Granny Smith apples
2/3 c. cornstarch
½ c. sugar
¼ tsp. cinnamon
½ c. caramel sauce for dipping (optional)
Heat oven to 350°. Wash, peel and core apples. Slice into wedges, French fry sticks or apple rings to desired size; set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together cornstarch, sugar and cinnamon. Toss apple slices in mixture until covered completely. Place in a single layer on baking sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway through, until a slightly crispy outer layer forms. Cool slightly before serving. If desired, serve with side of caramel dipping sauce. —4 servings.
