Triton FFA Celebrates Outstanding Students, Harms

Jayden Long, Kathie Vermillion, Warren Harms and Hunter Trusty were honored on May 3 by the Triton FFA during the annual awards banquet. The four were awarded outstanding students in their respective grade levels.

Long was featured as the outstanding seventh grader; Vermillion, the outstanding eighth grader, Harms, the outstanding freshman, and Trusty, the outstanding sophomore.

The chapter also named Tenneil Harms as the chapter's Honorary Member in recognition of her support and service to the organization.

Senior members recognized were: Sierra Hawley, Samuel Kistler, Owen Waymouth and Nakayala Rodriguez.

FFA members were also recognized for outstanding achievements in leadership development events, career development contests and chapter involvement.

Nine members earned the Discovery Degree and received their FFA jackets. An additional 10 members earned the Greenhand Degree, while 11 members received the Chapter Degree.

FFA members also participated in several career and leadership development events throughout the year, with multiple teams advancing to state competition.

In soils judging, 17 students participated, with two teams qualifying for the state contest. The crops team included 10 members, with six advancing to state competition. Forestry had 11 participants, with six members qualifying for state. Five students competed in entomology, with one member advancing to state competition.

Additional participation included four members in welders, eight members in small engines, 12 members in livestock judging and two members in horse and pony judging.

During the District Leadership Contest, 15 members competed, and one Discovery Food Science Demonstration team consisting of two members qualified for state competition.

To conclude the night, advisor April Leeper announced the new officer team for the 2026-27 school year. Team members include: Brooke Kitch, president; Savannah Hawley and Braden Nifong, co-vice presidents; Addison Lemler, secretary; Avery Faulkner, sentinel; Isabelle Rettinger, treasurer; and Natalie Mevis, reporter.
