NEPAC to Host Indiana Ag Experts

Purdue Extension in northeast Indiana will host a field day on Sept. 10 for farmers and agribusiness professionals that highlights current agronomic research. The field day will be held at Northeast Purdue Agricultural Center (NEPAC), 4821 E. 400 S, in Columbia City.

The program will begin with a series of morning workshops led by Purdue Extension experts. Workshop topics and presenters include:

• State pesticide regulation update by James Wolff, Extension educator.

• Corn production update by Dan Quinn, Purdue corn specialist

• Update on crop diseases, by Darcy Telenko, Purdue field crops pathologist

• A Different Approach to P Management, by Megan Bourns, Purdue soil fertility specialist

• Update on cover crops, by Shalamar Armstrong, Purdue agronomist

Following lunch, which sponsors provide, an optional session will be available on using UAVs to spray pesticides, scout crops or seed cover crops.

Participants can receive private applicator recertification program credit. Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance will be sponsoring the individual $10 fee. Commercial applicator CCHs and Certified Crop Adviser CEUs are also available.

Registration, refreshments and vendor visits will be from 8-8:30 a.m. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with lunch provided. The optional afternoon session will be from 2 p.m., or until complete. Admission is free, but registration by Sept. 3 is required to attend and receive a meal.
