Data Center Zoning Denied

Published: Friday, April 25, 2025

The Kosciusko County Commissioners unanimously voted to deny the rezoning of 554 acres of Leesburg farmland to Industrial 3 for a data center during their April meeting on Tuesday in Warsaw.

"I support development and growth when done property. I support data centers in logical locations," said Northern District Commissioner Sue Ann Mitchell. "(But) the rezoning of properties should be denied because it is not a reasonable and prudent location for this type of development."

"Our citizens have spoken. Our area plan commission has spoken. And now your county commissioners are speaking," said County Commissioner Robert Conley as he made the motion to deny.

"The unique challenging project and the limitations and problems associated with the current proposed location have not been overcome by the petitioner," said Commissioner Cary Groninger.

The rezoning request was originally introduced to the Area Plan Commission in March and was unanimously denied.
