Bainter, Meade Top Homemakers

Karen Meade and Tammy Bainter were named Homemaker of the Year during the Elkhart County Extension Homemaker Achievement Night last Tuesday in Goshen.

Bainter received the award in the intermediate category, and Meade received the award in the senior category.

Newly elected county officers for the 2024-25 club year were installed. They are: president, Louanne Gressman-Dunn; vice president, Lisa Stephens; secretary, Stephanie Szabo; treasurer, Kimberly McCreary; assistant treasurer, Becky Carrington; and advisor, Vickie Gortney. Immediate past president, Deb Pepple, was honored for her service.

Outstanding clubs were recognized and presented certificates for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Club level. The traveling gavel was presented to the club of the year, Homemakers of Today. Clubs earning the Gold Award were: Busy Homemakers, Clinton Classics, Creative Circle, Creative Homemakers, Four Seasons, Friends & Neighbors, Hex Rural, Homemakers of Today, Jefferson and York.

There were no clubs earning the Silver Award this year. Bound-4-Knowledge club earned the Bronze Award.

County committee chairpersons, new members and prestigious members were recognized. A special memorial service was conducted for deceased members.

Clubs celebrating tenure were: Bound-4-Knowledge (40 years), Creative Homemakers (45 years), Clinton Clique (70 years), Modern Homemakers (70 years) and Hex Rural (95 years).

The co-chairs for the Achievement Night event were Sharol Cloud and Cathy Van Huystee, and committee members were Cheryl Hoffman, Ramona Huber and Lisa Stephens.
