Gavin and Darla Neff of Howe exhibited the grand and reserve champion market beef steers at the LaGrange County 4-H Fair in LaGrange last week. Darla exhibited the grand champion beef steer. The premium was paid by a support group (see list at end of story) and came to a total of $3,150. Gavin earned $2,300 for showing the reserve champion market beef steer. The premium was paid by a support group (see list).

The 2023 LaGrange County 4-H auction raised a total of $253,233 with 193 lots sold. This is down from last year when 197 lots sold for $290,597.

The LaGrange auction is unique because, as a premium sale, it supports the efforts of each 4-H'er without requiring them to sell their animals. All animals mentioned below were not necessarily sold and there is no breakdown by species as a result. Also not recorded are animal weights and per-pound prices.

Kiana Mast of LaGrange exhibited the grand champion dairy steer. A price of $1,850 was paid by 13 buyers (see list). The reserve grand dairy beef steer was exhibited by Karson Mast of LaGrange. The grand champion market lamb was exhibited by Audriana Martin of LaGrange. A support group (see list) raised $3,450 in honor of her accomplishment.
