The Indiana Beef Cattle Assn. and Indiana Beef Council last week announced that Brian Shuter has been selected to serve as the new executive vice-president of the organization, replacing Joe Moore, who retired in March of this year.
Shuter is well-known by many and has years of experience in the Indiana beef industry, previously working for IBCA as the producer communications manager, as well as serving as the Hoosier Beef Congress coordinator since 2014. He received his B.S. degree from Purdue University in animal agribusiness in 2001 and his M.S. degree from Purdue in animal science in 2005.
Shuter comes to IBCA with added experience in the production and processing of beef as co-owner of Shuter Sunset Farms in Frankton, Ind. and co-owner of Smith Family Farms Custom Meats in Pendleton, Ind. Part of a fourth-generation family farm, Shuter has experience in the cow-calf, feedlot and show sector, in addition to experience in direct marketing beef to consumers.
"We look forward to the experience and passion for the industry that Brian brings to this position. We are confident he will hit the ground running and carry-on the successful track record of building a better beef business for Indiana," said Jeff Sherfield, president of Indiana Beef Cattle Assn.
Shuter begins his role with IBCA on June 12.
