Christofeno Inducted into Fair Group's Hall of Fame

Michael Christofeno past president of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, was honored last Saturday as an inductee into the Indiana Assn. of Fairs Hall of Fame.
Christofeno has served on the Elkhart County 4-H Fair executive committee from 1999 to 2016 and 2018 to 2023. He has also served on long range planning, personnel, governance, park, search and building committees. On the 4-H fair board he has served as director of security, midway, past chairman of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Foundation and is a current foundation member.
Four-H has always been a part of his life, as he was raised in a 4-H family by his parents, Angelo and Millie, was a 10-year member and served as an assistant 4- H leader. His two sons, Jon and Nic, were also 10-year members. Christofeno uses his leadership skills as he has served as president of the Elkhart County 4-H Corp. since 1992; he also serves as chair of the ethics and grievance committee.
With the Indiana Assn. of Fairs organization and International Fair Assn. of Fairs and Expositions, Christofeno has attended many of the conferences and has presented educational programs four times.
Additional awards that he has received are: Elkhart County Friend of Purdue Extension, Elkhart County Friend of 4-H and the Distinguished Service Award for Serving as the 4-H fair attorney for 19 years.
Christofeno is a member of Elkhart Rotary Club. Professionally, he is a member of Indiana Supreme Court Strategic planning committee, has served on Elkhart County Public Defenders, Board, Community Corrections advisory board and the Jail Capacity management board.
Christofeno was selected to the Hall of Fame, as he is a valuable member and mentor to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair board and 4-H program. He is dedicated to the 4-H program in Elkhart County in so many ways. He works quietly behind the scenes to effectively accomplish projects and goals for the fair.
An additional highlight for Christofeno, who served as President of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair in 2022, was that Samantha Markham, who is the Elkhart County 4-H Fair queen for 2022, was selected to the top 10 in the Indiana State Fair queen contest, also held last Saturday.
