Delphi Grain Bin Collapses

Published: Friday, September 23, 2022

No one was injured in a fire and subsequent grain bin collapse Monday at The Andersons grain facility in Delphi, Ind.

Seven local fire departments responded to the call just after 6:40 a.m. Fire was discovered in a large filter canister, the associated conveyors and a connected storage bin. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours working to gain access to the fire and to ensure there was no risk of fire spread to the rest of the facility.

Later that afternoon, the Delphi and Camden fire department responded to a major grain bin collapse sometime before 2:30 p.m. Photos showed the collapsed bin had left the ground covered in grain, and a truck smashed when it was hit by the collapsing bin.

All employees were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

The grain elevator is located at 3854 N. Anderson Dr., along S.R. 25, northeast of Delphi.
