Sikorski-Conklin Leads St. Joe Fair

Published: Friday, July 1, 2022

A Person You Should Know

With the St. Joseph County (Ind.) 4-H Fair set to begin this weekend, no one is more excited than this week's "Person You Should Know."

Kristen Sikorski-Conklin is serving as the president of the St. Joseph County Fair board. The fair is one of the highlights of the year for Sikorski-Conklin, who is from South Bend.

Family: I'm currently married to my husband, Kasey, and have a son, Kogan.

My Job: I am a licensed social worker, and currently work as a behavioral therapist.

My mentor: There are so many people in my life that I look up to, but my biggest mentor would have to be my grandmother. She is the reason I am how I am today. My grandma taught me the importance of being kind to everyone, working hard and never giving up, no matter how hard something may be.

My mission in life: My mission life is to show kindness and empathy to others, and to make a difference wherever I can.

How I give back: I give back by volunteering a great deal of my time. In addition to being a 4-H volunteer for the last 18 years and serving on the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair board for the last eight years, I also volunteer with the New Prairie Rocket Football program, and participate with the Olive Twp. Elementary PTO. I also teach Sunday school at Westside Church of Christ.

Hobbies: My hobbies include making memories with my son, mom and sister, spending time with friends, hanging out with my puppy, Duke, and volunteering for the organizations that I love being a part of.

Favorite fair food: My favorite fair food would have to be a tie between Nelson's Pit-Tatoes and Cotton Candy.

If I Could Do Something Else: I often think about this question, but truly I cannot see myself doing anything else both in my career or as a volunteer.
